Homestead | Town of Mt. Crested Butte
Background
Homestead is a community housing development in Mt. Crested Butte that consists of 44 income-restricted ownership homes for local workers and residents. The project was led by the Town of Mt. Crested Butte to address the critical need for affordable workforce housing in the North end of the valley.
In February 2025, the Valley Housing Fund awarded a $100,000 grant to support the second and final phase of the project, which included the completion of 22 deed-restricted homes with two or three bedrooms and attached garages.
This development offers a vibrant community with easy access to public lands and transportation. Families moved into Phase 2 in mid-2025, making Homestead another important milestone in expanding long-term housing solutions for the Gunnison Valley.
